Join the Hawai‘i Public Health Association to celebrate National Public Health Week! This year's event will feature individuals and organizations who have used innovative strategies to support community wellness in Hawai‘i during the pandemic over the past year. Speakers include:

Dr. David Derauf, MPH, MD
Executive Director, Kōkua Kalihi Valley

Meetu Kelen
Community Health Worker, West Hawai‘i Community Health Center, Marshallese Community Association

Michele Navarro Ishiki, LCSW, CSAC
Kū Makani, The Hawai'i Resiliency Project

Community encompasses every aspect of our lives – it’s where we live, work, learn and play. These make up the social determinants of health, but many people face community barriers to health and well-being. People with greater feelings of support and inclusion within their networks tend to live longer, respond better to stress and have stronger immune systems than those who are isolated from their communities.

Join us as we hear from community leaders who know what their communities need, and support the work they’re already doing to create change. The pandemic has brought different levels of stress to us all. We invite you to grab your favorite beverage and join us to be serenaded by a local musician and learn relaxation techniques to help you wind down from your busy day. We also would love to see "what has lifted your mood" during the pandemic!

Please submit photos of your pets, books, baked goods, hobbies and anything that helped you during these unprecedented times to Steph Moir at stephanie@hiphi.org to be featured at the event.
